Potential demand is indicated at 50–100 MW per Galway, Limerick and Cork area on the 220 kV network, or 150–300 MW combined, subject to technical and generation requirements. EirGrid advises assuming new connections from the mid-2030s because station works and outages are already programmed. Capacity is unsecured until a connection contract is executed.
Full signal and limitations (opens in a new tab)The route goes from Ballycoolin through Athlone and Galway, then Shannon and Limerick to Cork. Enet offers duct and dark-fibre access and existing capacity products. Its release separately describes a new ultra-low-latency fibre route as still awaiting commissioning. Aurora publishes a backbone through Galway and a Shannon metro network.
Full signal and limitations (opens in a new tab)The rules cover existing and future transmission-connected demand and address fault ride-through, rate of change of frequency and active-power recovery. The final framework rejects the proposed portfolio approach and uses metering for Demand Utilisation Threshold monitoring. The framework extends the compliance-plan submission period to six months for data-centre derogation applicants; facilities unable to comply are expected to seek derogation before the rules take effect.

The NIS identifies the Luffany_010 watercourse and indirect construction pathways to two SACs. The 5 August DAU submission says dedicated otter work and the bat baseline should be completed before determination. IDA's consent letter references folio KK10619F but requires an approved and executed right of way before entry. Proposed ESB and ICT ducts and the 2025 Uisce Éireann feasibility letter remain enabling evidence only.
